My truck has been trouble free, and I hope it remains so, but there is a noise that I noticed last month that has become more pronounced in the last few weeks. On shutdown, there is a sound similar to a grinding or a bearing noise that winds down and then stops. The obvious source would be the turbocharger, and I do hear this noise from the rear of the truck near the tailpipe as well as at the front of the truck. Boost response remains normal. What would cause this, just a normal condition, lack of lubrication, or coking up of the turbo vanes? I only have 18K on the truck, so coking is doubtful. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is normal. Mine does it. It is the turbo winding down. You are hearing the the shaft spin on the bearing (sleeved).

Thought so but wasn't sure. The last turbo vehicle I had didn't make that much racket, but then again the engine wasn't as big (2.3L gasser) Thanks!
