Followed the wife down to have her car serviced this morning, and the guy at the quickie lube recognized my truck....he ran the VIN in his computer system. All the blanks in its service history are now filled in and I have contact info on the previous owner. I was really happy to see that he had full tranny service done at 56K miles.

The more I drive it and the more I learn about it, the more confident I am that this truck is a winner.:D

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....you believin' this.....I'm a GM guy! Even though there's seldom been a time when there wasn't at least one T-bird in my driveway; right now there's 5 Fords, a new Camry and nary a GM on my property....AAAAAAnnnnd, I turned wrenches in a half dozen Ford dealerships way back when and never in a GM dealership....I'm still a GM guy.

Big reason I'm GM-inclined is because Ford didn't make Camaros and Chevelles, and Novas. If GM ever takes over Ford and puts out a better Super Duty PSD, I'll get rid of the one I've got and go back to a GM truck.:roflmao

Here's the last rig I was driving before my present two Fords:

OldRVrig.JPG

Before that it was a 2000 3500HD CC LB DRW w/7.4 Vortec
Before it was a 1992 2500HD Std Cab LB w/5.7 Vortec
The Camry Replaced a 2000 Jimmy 4-dr 4x4 w/4.3 Vortec, 4L60E HD & 6500 "super tow" package
Nary a Ford truck except for a 1970 Ranchero workmobile

I had a 65' Mustang when I was 17 for a short period of time. Only rig I have ever wrecked. I planted it between a telephone guy wire and a tree at a high rate of speed. My step dad had found it in a old barn and bought it from the old folks that were the original owners. Can't say he was real proud of me on the day I totaled it.

I have been eyeballing the new Mustangs but I keep telling myself that I am not quite old enough yet. Been 21 years since I wrecked the last one but I am afraid it might happen again

Nice 65' you have there Mike :sweet

That 65 was the first car I owned in my own name and bought with my own money. I bought it when I was 18 years old and drug it home on a trailer. Did a quicky rebuild on the carb, dropped the tranny and stuck in a new clutch/pressure plate and flywheel and stuck a battery in it and lit it off. It had been sitting in a driveway under an olive tree for 5 years at the time. I drove it for about two years like that, it had a very bad drug induced paint job on it and one of those sweet blue metalflake/chrome steering wheels on it, some roach clips and other misc paraphanalia in the ash tray. I then took it off the road and it underwent its face lift/make over. Stripped the interior to the floor pan, dash was emptied, motor/tranny removed, all glass removed, doors off (PO had hacked speakers into the door panels and a stereo into the metal dash) front fenders off, hood and trunk lid off. All stripped to bare metal and off to the body shop for various bondo treatments and primer. Meanwhile the 289 was getting a freshening up, little longer duration higher lift cam, Edelbrock performer intake, rings and bearings, fresh heads and a set of headers. Researched the info on the car and painted it to the factory Wimbeldon White and new black interior/carpet and headliner was stuffed back in it. The car currently has 103,000 original miles on it. Safe to say, I'll own it forever.:thumbs
