Been running straight #2 or premium diesel (when it's the same price) with a double shot of Power Service (white jug) all month hauling travel trailers in Western Canada in -20F and -30F temps with no problems. Only problem this winter with the truck not starting was frozen batteries a few weeks ago when it was -30F in Jamestown, ND. Towed into the dealer, 10 minutes on the charger and she fired up no problem.... Was running #2 and the recommended double shot of Power Service when that happened, They towed in about 20 trucks after me that were gelled, 6 oh no's don't like being gelled. Many of those guys ended up having to replace several injectors.
Filled up my Aux tank in Goshen Indiana at the Speedway Wednesday and tried Howes for the first time, gave it the recommended double shot for anti gel protection because I was heading to Carlyle, SK, Canada. In Minnesota about 10F I had to put the truck in the shop because the fuel wasn't flowing from the transfer tank to the main tank, pulled the line and fuel & slush was gelled in the line. Gave it a shot of 911 and 2 bottles of diesel fuel line anti freeze.
Topped off again in Grand Fork, ND with premium Diesel (same price as #2
) dumpped in a jug of Power Service (white jug) and no more problems. Made the delivery in Carlyle and am back in ND now.
I'll stick with Power Service, been using it for over 20 years.... No more Howes for me, it's cheaper but I'm not impressed.
