the wife was driving home tonight and gelled up, she had just filled the truck and added Howes fuel treatment, temp was 5deg. Pulled truck home, got it in the heated garage, started a hour and a half later, added 911 desiel service. We also bought new fuel filters but i dont have the tools to put them in, i guess i will do that tomorrow at work. This is the last time i will run Howes, we mixed it as them wanted on the bottle, 1oz per 2 gals.

Howe's is pretty good stuff. Any chance there's a little water somewhere in the mix?

no biodiesel that i am aware of, if there was it came from flyin j, water in the system could be part of the problem, we have a heated garage, (60deg) my wife said she was down to 1/8th of a tank, before she filled, and it sat outside work all day at 5deg, so water, could be part of it. Picked up a new scoket from the snap on guy (17 bucks), got the filters changed, runs like a top. my sugar knows not to run the tank that low again, which should help.

I did some Howe's testing in this thread and still have the frozen jar of fuel sitting outside. My truck ran on Howe's treated #2 well below zero although it was clouding up which indicates that wax crystals are starting to form. I have not tested any other brands but do have plans of doing so. Howe's didn't do as well as I thought it would but it did lower the gel point considerably. I am guessing that your low fuel level may have contributed to the gelling as I know that Howe's treated #2 will flow well below zero as I tested it in real world arctic conditions. Once I get some other brands in my test jar I will let you know if they do any better.

truck quit again tonight, wife filled it up as in previous post, after 32oz of 911, and 12oz of Howes, it still quit, had truck towed to dealer and checked fuel filters, they showed no signs of gelling, I am at a loss here, what could be going wrong????????????????????????

What engine? Could be CPS if it is a 7.3.

edit: I did some searching and found that you have a 06' so it is a 6.0 not a 7.3. I am not familiar with no start or dieing issues on the 6.0. Should be under warranty so let us know what the dealer finds.

I really hope its covered by the engine warrenty as i have 50500, mikes on it now. the truck feels like its gelling, starts to run slugish, no power, motor starts missing, when you come to a stop, its really running rough and dies. I just dont get it. I did see that when i was changing the filters, the exhaust manifold on drivers side was starting to leak, will have to tell them about that. The good thing is, I will be working with a person that worked at the dealership i bought the truck from. I know this guy and hes a fellow archery hunter, we have a good friendship.
The last time i was this mad, i went and bought a GMC, traded that back for this ford, I really dont want to do that again.
