gelled up tonight-not. Fuel pump failed!

yes, i drain the HFCM everytime i change filters, Dealership fixed the truck, got it back today, heres what they did.

Run diesel diag as per sheet-----no fuel PSI
Run pin point test
Checked power to fuel pump-----OK
R&R fuel pump----rechecked-----OK
let sit outside 4 hours to do cold start at 2 deg-----All OK
1 6c3z-9g282-AA - pump asy
1- PM 15 -Additive
1 XT-5-QMC- trans fluid

Truck runs good now, I was wrong about the Howes diesel treatment, it did its job, the truck never gelled. Also, dealership told me to never put 911 in the orange bottle in my tank, its not good for injectors, thats why they put trans fluid in,that will help combat the high alcohol content in the 911. All i know is my truck is running and it cost me 105.92 to get it done under power train warranty, I call this cheap.

Uh, draining the HFCM "when you change filters" (i.e. every 15K miles) is NOT "regular".

Regularly is defined as something like every month or every other month, not 15k miles.


There's something more to this story: diesel shouldn't gel at 5 degrees. But I'm from Alabama, what the fork do I know about cold, unless it's beer or those cold doohicky thingies I add to my Jack Daniels.

Umm, i dont think you read the parts of the story that are here, I didnt gell, but i'm gellen now, with some of those cold dohicky things in my glass of brandy 7

So, your fuel pump was shot? Is that what I am reading?

Pops just gelled today in the 03. Its -4 (I guess thats what the puter says it is) -30 with wind here though and he stops at a bio station once in a while to guess he'll have to stop that. Have no idea how much fuel he had as he does not respect his trucks. He's a get in turn and crank kinda guy I yell at him all the time

yeah the fuel pump was shot, took two three days to quit. its located on the frame rail, not the one in the tank. Filled it up with #1 on friday before we left for the walleye banquet. Started to snow tonight, should be good to go now.

Dealer says injecters there 5 bad in my dads. siad when it gelled it scarred the injectors

Horizontal Fuel Conditioner Module

its a fancy name for the first stage fule filter, preheater and water collection point.
its advisable t drain it regualry I.E. about once a month.or if you drive tns of miles a 3-5k interval would serve you well.
its a real PITA t drain
you have to lay on the ground, to get to it. its on the frame rails (inside) about even with the drivers seat.
save your self some time, effort and :rant and get a knurled nut drain plug from a dealer or i think some dealers have it now
it looks like this
