So I pulled a rookie move and let my truck gell up over the weekend. I got her all "unwaxed" and running fine. I was just curious if there are any long term effects that happen to the motor or fuel system when that happens? Anything I should prepair for down the road?

Thanks!

I wouldn't exspect anything major. You might wana run an additive thru it that takes care of any free water ("water in fuel" light too).. and keep an eye on yer filter change cycle being needed a little sooner.

Mine started to gel this morning but it didnt quit running and was able to get some Diesel 911 in when it was running. And I was wondering the same thing if I need to change the fuel filters or can I leave them alone until my next oil change.

I would think it would be a good idea to continue to run an anti-gel additive through the system for the remainder of the cold season to ensure it doesnt happen again.

There should be no long term effects to worry about.

+1

never say never, but you really should not have any trouble. i have gelled more trucks and tractors than i care to keep track of, with no long term failures i could blame the gelling for.

Oh yeah....I usually keep on top of adding teh antigel......just plain forgot. Howes will be in every tank until March.

Well that makes me feel a little better. As soon as we get a little warmer weather (at least 30 degrees!!!!) I will do a filter service.

Thanks everyone!!

ive been running fords octane booster... went to pull trailer lastnight... could hardly get over 45 mph.. every overpass was very shaky and slow ... i put some diesel additive.. white bottle with red cap.. same brand as 911.. just the preventive additive.. seems to be doing better. maybe ill start running this additive instead of the motorcraft stuff

Is Howes equal to or better than Power Services product? I am just curious if one is better than the other.
Thats a loaded question (think Ford vs Chevy debates). Some folks love it, I have used it frequently in the past and never had problems with it at all others have had nothing but trouble with it. I honestly think it starts with GOOD quality fuels supply to begin with.
