Gelled up, fixed...any long term effects?

The two additives are about equal. Some prefer one over the other, but they both of the job, if you keep after it. 95_stroker said it very good.

i believe the power service is cheaper, wich makes it better! :D power service has not let me down. Howes has once. the comparison of conditions is not apples to apples so i will not say too much bad about howes, but it was in the tank when it gelled.

I honestly think it starts with GOOD quality fuels supply to begin with.

X2! Having driven a truck OTR, I can tell you with certainty that you get bad fuel from time to time. A little additive won't make up for a batch of crap fuel...

The Power Services products have never let me down either but I am always looking for something that might perform just a little better. I will argree with you guys about not being able to do anything with junk fuel. We have never really had an issue here with bad fuel going into one of our large trucks in the fleet and dont even want to think about it.

Always a good idea to keep a few bottles of 911 in the truck. I will throw in an entire bottle of Power-Serv conditioner when fueling if the temps are low enough. Gelling up is just a pain in the a**.

umm.. dumb question guys. Aren't you supposed to change your filters after using the powerservice 911 additive? I thought thats what I read on the bottle. I've been using the white bottle in mine and also putting a 1/2 tank of #1 in it. I've almost gelled up twice now and its a very bad feeling. Expecially at 4:00 in the morning. On the other note. I did use the howes in mine and Idk about noticing anything different. Of coarse it was in the summer time.

its not a bad idea to change filters, but its really not needed. the best thing to do is to get the solution diluted as much as possible after it has thawed and the truck is running.

if you are as broke as i am, changing the filter when its not ready yet is not high on my priority list! i have noticed however, gelled fuel seems to be 10x harder to clear up when you have a "not so fresh" filter.
