Installed...Fuel System Pieces...DIY

Here’s a pic of the pieces for my fuel system.

View attachment 1040

Starting at the top hose: overall lengths, 45 JIC-JIC pieces used where hose ends weren’t available

26” straight and 90 #4 JIC…filter housing to driver rear test port
22” both 45 ends…filter housing to passenger rear test port
15” straight and 45 ends…front pass to regulator
10” 90 and straight…regulator to front driver port
12” #6 straight both ends…regulator to return line
Missing compression plug for regulator housing
3- #4 JIC 45's
3- 1/8 pipe to JIC adapter, 45 degree
2- 1/8 pipe to JIC adapter, straight
1- 1/8 pipe to JIC adapter, 90 degree
1- JIC to 5/16ths compression for return line
Regulator has #4 JIC for lines coming from heads, #6 JIC for return

The dual regulated return is work of Hutch and Texas Towncar. If I'm wrong please let me know.:sweet Thanks to them we can now make our trucks more efficient by purging the fuel rails of aerated fuel that causes fuel knock. Injectors fill at the proper rates and better throttle response is a result. We see if my cackle pig can be quieted. The regulator is 13109 IIRC thanks to :hail Powerboatr it has the notch to allow bleed down to prevent cylinder washing. This regulator was put into service back when most of this was R&D for everyone still. I used SS teflon tubing, I’ve read something about static and others having leak issues….hey I get leaks on tractors sometimes too.

My hose shop is very helpful! That's a must when trying to piece your own kit togethter. They must be patient and understand what you are trying to do so they can get you the right pieces.:sweet

hey thats a PURTY regulator
:D
the #6 bulkhead fitting on the return if i forgot in the previous instrucions. is for a return fuel temp sender, which is very helpful when your getting on it. sort of a poor mans cycl head temp gauge.
the sendo r will hook up to a normal oil temp gauge with a range up to 320F if i remember correctly, not that it will ever go over 160-180,
AND the fitting MUST be grounded to a good ground, #2 fuel is a poor conductor of electricity, I used the metal part of a cushion clamp attatched to the blue fitting and a wire as ground.

so when is it all going on the truck?

Fitting, Straight, -6 AN Male to 3/8 in. NPT Male, Aluminum,
hpe the pic helps
I am on pins and needles here, I feel like an expectant father sort of :D

:roflmao :roflmao :roflmao Patience! It's supposed to rain so not this weekend. Don't think anyone's gonna let me borrow their garage to tear into fuel lines:D , don't want to run out to the farm and do it incase I need something special. Plus I think I'm pretty much going to tear into it real good...pull/clean IC, change EBP sensor,CPS(it will be really easy) 8 GPs, UVC harness clips, rebuild IPR, install WW turbo off, possibly change coolant. ummm I think thats it. 110K and I've got some querks that weren't there before.:p Synchronizers seem to be tired too.

Now what do I connect to a temp gauge and what goes to ground?

Bill,
The install will be interesting to say the least if I get to do what I want.:sweet Big learning curve!

Looks good Antonio. I will be a little longer on mine now, the Nova needs a regulator worse than the truck. Bryan

Save all the parts until the Rally. There will be plenty of us to help, and plenty of hose stores within a short drive incase you're missing something.

On Edit, I know you can't wait that long, it was just a thought.
