Hello, I have a 2005 F250 6.0. A couple weeks ago the truck started running rough and finally quit. Checked the housing containing small filter on top of engine. No fuel, changed pump, very hard to get started again. Ran great for about a week and a half. Started running rough again, have not driven. I do not want to be on the side of the road again. The pump was a new one from ford. What guage do I need to check fuel press and where to install it? I am sure the voltage going to the pump goes through a relay. where might I find that? Any other Ideas would be greatly appreciated. First time poster so I want to say hello and thank you. Russ

Symptoms

Driving on flate surface, truck ran fine. When I first noticed problem was going up a hill. Minor hesitation like bad fuel. Got worse untill truck cut off. After replacement drove truck over 300 miles, ran great. Then started hesitating just like before. Hope this helps. Thanks

there is three filters one on the motor one, on the frame, and one on the tank pick up.

The one in the tank is just that, in the tank. It is not a user serviceable part and is more a trash blocker than a filter. If you have dirty fuel it can plug up. You will have to drop the tank and remove the Float plate on top of the tank.

As with most things; If you put junk fuel, that is from a station that you do not frequent often, your screen can get clogged. I have never had a screen become clogged in the 25+ years I have driven diesel trucks. So NO I would not say this is a common problem. Your filters are.

Dave, I have only owned the truck for 5,000 miles, it has 110,000. Just asking about common problems. I don't know where the prev owner got fuel but I have used a freq used station that Semi trucks use just off the interstate. I guess any station can have JUNK fuel. Thanks Russ

Fuel Quality and Quantity doesn't seem to be the issue, IMO.

I'm think'n you need to get yer PSD Scanned, at this point.

While yer at it..clean up yer battery Cables, Clamps, and Posts. Load test the Battery's, (isolated from each other)..... too.. Try that ?
