Fuel drip with engine off.

Hey guys about a month ago my truck started dripping fuel from the little hole in the dust pan after i drive it.It has progressively gotten worse so i thought id try to fix it,only thing is i cannot see where its coming from.I shined a light around filter housing,while running and not running and still cannot see any fuel dripping.I did notice a puddle on top of the block but the puddle didnt seem to be changing any.any suggestions???I would love to be able to just take it to my local ford dealer but they just start replacing parts till they get it fixed.

Two most common areas to look at, 1: there is a yallow (small) handel on the Passenger side of the fuel bowl, it has 2 o rings that have a tendancy to leak after a few years,
2: you have an o ring that goes on the ends of the feed lines from the fuel bowl where they meet/thread in the head. These too have a tendancy to fail after time.

thanks for the welcome and for the suggestion,im pretty mechanically inclined,but never really had any problems with any of my powerstrokes to work on.Is there a diagram of the fuel system somewhere or pictures.I have just about decided its leaking somewhere from the filter housing which may be what is called the "fuel bowl".I do know that it started right after i ran a can of lucas injector cleaner through it.Replacing the O-rings you mention is this a job for Ford or can an average shadetree mechanic fix it?

T-Bar thanks for the pics.I went out this morning to look for that and found it no problem but my truck had not leaked any fuel last night at all(strange).So i turned the dump valve and let it run out for a second and it drains in a completely different place than where my normal leak comes from.Does this mean that,thats not my problem and why would it leak sometimes and not others?I did put 30.00 worth of diesel in it last night on the way home.

If it drains in a place other than it leaks, then I would think it is leaking from somewhere else. The only way that I know of chasing something like this down is to degrease and clean the top of the motor and keep a close eye on where it starts to get dirty.

I had the same thing at first when my o-rings the drain valve began to go bad. The leak flow was not enogh to go out the drain tube - it collected int he valley and drained off the back of the motor slowly (few drips per night). Once the o-rings actually failed - it began to come down the drain tube.

i would highly suggest draining the bowl, remove the valve assembly off the bowl (pain in the ***** - had to do mine with a 1/4 drive - socket - and #2 apex -- 1/4 turn at a time while laying on the radiator). You can purchase the o-rings separately from some online sources or your local hardware store might carry what you need. The part with o-rings form Ford is a bit costly...

If so it's prolly the passenger side fuel feed line that goes into the back of the head by the down pipe. It's a vibra-loc fitting that has an o-ring that tends to leak. When I did my fuel system I was surprised mine wasn't leaking by the condition of the o-ring when I removed the stock feed line.

Yes the transmission dust cover but the fuel is building up in the valley and when i shut it off after a trip it will drip steady from that hole for a good 45 min to hour and make a spot bout 3 foot by 3 foot.there is a bunch of grass and stuff right below the fuel bowl that is drenched with fuel but i climb up under the hood and look while its running and after i turn it off and i just cant see any dripps or leaks.Its got me, but im almost certain that the drain valve is ok because its leaking in a completely different place and a bunch of it.
Thanks for your help guys i may just have to bow to the professionals on this one.Dont really like the smell of raw diesel fuel on my hands anyway(LOL)
