Extra fuel capacity

What are you guys using for either replacement tanks or additional tanks under the truck? I have seen a couple of 62 gallon options and a 40 gallon spare tire mounted option. Just curious to see if there are other options out there.

I am not sure this is the right spot to post this as I am new around here. Thanks in advance for any input.

I am not interested in a bed mounted tank as I need all of my 8' box.

I am going to go with a Aftermarket and OEM Fuel Tank Systems tank but i dont have any personal experience with them yet.

I tried to buy the tank and have it installed by one of thier 'authorized' dealers in northern Dallas but they couldnt get their story stright. They had them in stock, then they didn't and they would be in shortly, then i had to order one, then the guy wasnt there.... So i gave up. I will try again when I go home in July.

The only one I have seen is from aerotanks. they quoted me 125 in freight and 860 for the tank which includes the pump.

I am leary about pumping from one tank to another tank and the installation of the lines and everything. That is why I am asking.

You can google aero tanks and it comes right up. I think the 40 is a new product for them.

I think it would be a great way to get my capacity up but I am just chicken right now...

if you dont have room in the bed for a tank where would you put
your spare tire ???

the transferflow tanks are nice but imo theyre crazy expensive when you
do the "cost per added gallon" break down. if you can sacrifice 9inches
of depth in the bed you can get an additional 40-46g for about 400 bucks.

I am with the OP, i like to be able to pull up to the pump and fill up XX gallongs of fuel and not have to worry about one tank filling up another. What if your sensor goes bad and it keeps on fillin? So if you can pay a little extra, keep your spare tire, keep your bed space, and have the piece of mind.... then it might just be worth it.

But with that said i will probably go with the 40 Gal toolbox/fuel tank combo from transfer flow

These are excellent points gentlemen. I appreciate these insightful responses. And to respond to Bushpilot about the spare tire: A spare tire is portable. A fixed tank is not. I can put the spare in between the bikes or even in the trailer. I would consider this as a viable option if I could mount my bike bar to the tank. It is currently mounted to the front of my bed. It provides two bike chocks and eyes for tie-downs.
Ideally there would be a common fill 80-100 gallon option for less than a grand installed. I know, there isn't such a thing.

BP, I could even live with a gravity fed system if it didn't mount at the front of the bed, maybe on the side in front of the wheel well??? Has anyone seen anything like this?

I know they make tool boxes like that but I have not seen a tank like that. Any ideas?

you talking motorcycles or bicycles ?

it would be helpful to know if you have
a short bed or long bed.

I own several motorcycles, and sacrificing 9 inches of depth
in a long bed is do-able for me...i could still carry any of
my motorcycles and get the tailgate shut or use a bed extender
(i used to carry my motorcycles in an f150 short bed)

I consider that an in bed tank CAN be removed if empty, and even
FULL it could be removed (in an emergancy w/ an engine hoist or
CRANE

additionally as much as i like the transferflow tanks theyre expensive
and the risk is HIGH that i wouldnt be able to take a transferflow
replacement tank w/ me to my NEXT truck <its investment lost>

ANY in bed tank could be moved to my next truck, or used as
a storage tank in my garage.

if youre talking about bicycles i think youve got lots of mounting
options and can build a mount either infront of the tank or over
the top (obviously you dont want to be drilling mounts into
a fuel tank)...you could weld some mounts on the tank (before its filled)

there are FLAT tanks too that might be an option.

Off-road motorcycles. I have a long bed (172" wheel base)

A flat tank may be an option. I could put the front wheel on the tank.

I am with you on taking the tank to my next truck!!

I looked at all 3 links and I think I will call KSH to see what they recommend.

I didn't see a gravity fed tank like you describe. Did I just miss it?
