Alternator, zoom belt, grounding strap, and 2 new batteries on Wednesday...4 new rear sneakers on Friday...oil change on Saturday...all topped off with a nice turbo fart saturday evening going up a long grade with about 14k dragging behind me that blew the top hose right off. When I lost most of the power and saw black smoke billowing out, I figured thats it, game over. When I opened the hood I could not believe that it was just a matter of putting the hose back on and tightening it up. The noise it made when it blew was deafening. 3 minutes with a screwdriver and it was all good again. In hindsight, the original alternator went almost 200k, the belt [second replacement] was at 70k, and the batteries were the originals. None of those parts owe me a dime. I just wish my wife would age as well as this truck. :roflmao

I had the same hose pop last summer half way up a grade towing our trailer to the lake. Sounds like a .40 going off under the hood! The extra heat from the engine is fun to deal with too as your trying to find a "cool" place to put your knee cap. Ahhh. Good times. Glad you got it dialed back in.

within the last few months, and a total of 1500 miles, i did a turbo, injector o rings, hpop lines and fittings, oil change, fuel filter, up pipes, transmission filter, and now i think my transmission is flaring from 1st to 2nd. did it three times yesterday. not sure exactly on the gears but the rpms go up and im not going any faster. so maybe a new transmission is in the works. this all started in march when i hit 60k on the truck. ford wont cover anything and my lucky extended warranty wont either since ford wont. money well spent.

im about to fix it and go to dodge. screw these powerjokes. heck, if i didnt need to pull or farm equipment around, i would go with a ricer. at least there reliable. never had a problem with our toyota. 200k and still counting.

txasstuff79...sorry about your problems. I'm not gonna flame you about a anti-PSD post. I know a few who have had no luck with theirs. If your pulling some real weight or really working a truck, and have had it with Ford, go with a Dodge or a GMC / Chevy. The imports are O.K. for light towing and such, but they simply can't come close to a diesel domestic truck. Good luck with whatever you purchase.

i have to have something to pull our trailers. the only other vehicle worth anything as far as farm truck is our old 92 f350 non turbo 7.3. its on its 3rd transmission, 2nd injection pump but still ticks with 157k on it. blows more smoke than it should since its stock and cackles a heck of a bunch but keeps running. if the repairs would of spread themselves out better, i wouldnt be pissed off. drove it today. its first gear and its not really flaring, its just shifting real slowly from 1st to 2nd. dunno.
