interesting....i guess it would drip into the exhaust instead of in the driveway and would burn it out when the engine gets up to operating temp?

I doubt the temp of the exhaust will be able to burn it. But as long as your truck is running the exhaust will keep pushing it out as a vapor....not drip. And when you turn your truck off the ccv vapors stop. I would also put the ccv inlet at an angle pointed with the flow of the exhaust so that the exhaust wouldnt push back into the ccv. Thats just how I have thought about doing it.

yeah, i was wondering if it would be hot enough to burn it off. i would still think it would drip into your exhaust though huh?

you diesel only truck folks crack me up sometimes. us diesel car folks have been dealing with CCV and EGR issues in our cars for over 10 years. but instead of creating rolling environmental catastrophes, we figured out responsible ways of dealing with it.

i can not believe how people are all outraged at BP and Embridge for environmental catastrophes, but will turn around and advocate doing the same thing in their/my backyard. would you dump used oil in the gutter or down a sewer? that is the same thing as the ccv mod.

ccv mod makes the crank case an OPEN vent system- noy unlike the way we did it in the 60's and 70's.... remember when you had to run your wipers and washers when you were behind a semi? its dirty and nasty. and you are basically dumping that oil onto the ground and contaminating the soil and water and air.

the $300 filter kit is a $150 mann ccv filter kludged together with some hoses and clamps. the $250 racor unit is PURPOSELY engineered. time money or frustration. pick 2. then again, it must be better because its a Banks unit.

I know it makes it as a vapor all the way past my gas tank. So maybe another 4'-5' of hose to make it to the exhaust...I think it will still be a vapor. May be a different story when it gets colder though.

And I'm not outraged about the BP spill. Yeah it sucks and shouldn't have happened. But complaining/getting mad wont help the current issue with it or keep it from happening again, I would deffinately feel differently if it directly affected me though. I really do hate the situation those guys are in down there. And do you see how fast all those MILLIONS of gallons was absorbed by the ocean? Last time I checked though there was a film of it at a certain depth and probably still affecting sea life at the bottom...and then affecting the fishermen. What happened with the aerosol issue when I was in junior high (8 years ago) and the ozone dissapearing? Y2K? Global warming (still a current issue)? Brain tumors from cell phones? All the stuff made to scare us? I'm not going to live in fear while the sun is in its peak solar cycle and the earth absorbing everything we have to throw at it. This is a debate that will go on for a while with people from different views and thats the way its suppose to be....WE keep each other in check. No offense intended to you DP...or anyone else.

1. acceptable oil usage in 7.3's is up to 1 quart per thousand miles. check your manual

2. 1 quart of motor oil that seeps into groundwater can pollute 250,000 gallons of drinking water.
Used Motor Oil a Potential Source of MTBE in Ground Water

you do the math and figure it out.

Checked my oil yesterday. I've ran it about 2500 miles since the last oil change. It has maybe moved .1"...doesnt the marking on the dipstick represent 4-6qts? I took a picture of the dipstick after I had done the oil change, ran the new oil through the system, and let it set so I could compare my oil usage. So if someone is using that much oil like you said...wouldn't they have more problems? I did get the ccv design from the wiki articles, which is what you preach if someone asks a question about something that is already in there.
