I have read that ford will void warranty for the exhaust upgrads from turbo back. Is this true or just some over worried people.
Just bought a f250 and had a duramax with chip and exhaust never had any problem with warranty b/c of exhuast- just took of edge before went.
just wondering before I mod mine.
thanks
jeff

We've had our '02 into the dealer on a few occasions and they really never said anything negative about the modifications but that's with the 7.3L,I know Ford has been abit more strict regarding their 6.0L but I believe it's a dealer to dealer thing.

Welcome to SuperDutyDiesel as well Jeff :thumbs

It's definately a dealer to dealer thing.

I had the selling dealer install a BD exhaust brake. And later took it into another dealer for warranty work without problems.

A had read a while ago (at the other site) about one Ford dealer that was also a Banks selling/installing dealer.

But then again, I read of one dealer who saw the oversized tires on his truck when he brought it in for an oil change and voided the guy's entire warranty.

Dealers are like people. There are those who are very fair and decent. And there are those who you'd like to see take a long walk off a short pier.

It depends on the Dealer. Where I bought my truck, if you do anything to your truck, it voids the warranty. Right after I bought my truck, I only added a boost gage and pyro. The next time I was at my dealer, they give me a bunch of crap about moding my truck and that it would void the warranty. Just so happens I work with the truck mechanics brother and he told him that my truck was stock. I never had any warranty issues come up, thank god, but I knew that I would probably have problems. I didn't do any other mods to my truck until the warranty ran out.

complaining or threatening about adding a guage is WAY over the line...
what next, you cant add an aftermarket audio or video system.

id make 'em explain to me how a GUAGE could possibly impact performance !

these guys are OUTTA control w/ their ATTEMPTS and FUD (fear uncertainty & doubt)...find another dealer !

No dealer can void a warranty from Ford. None, nada, zilch.

All they can do is refuse to do any warranty work on the vehicle and then tell Ford Motor Company that they refused to honor the warranty based on the fact that the owner had installed X aftermarket performance mods.

The reason they refuse to do it is if they do the warranty work, and then a Ford rep comes out and won't pay the warranty, the dealer is then stuck with the goods. If they refuse to do it, then they have no loss. The bad thing is that when they refuse to do it, then they list it, and another dealer may not wish to stick their neck out and possibly get stuck with the bill.

you've got rights bro. there's a federal law called magnusson moss, they CANNOT void your warranty unless they can PROVE that the modified part DIRECTLY caused the failure... true story guys.
