Engine overfill

I have a friend that is part owner of a lube shop. They did an oil change on a 06 superduty powerstroke. Their bulk oil system switched from liters to quarts somehow and overfilled the engine. Not knowing that this happened, they started the truck and saw oil coming out of the filter. They turned off the truck and checked the level. It was way over full. So they completely drained the oil and started over with the right amount. The customer drove off. A few minutes later the customer returned complaining of blue smoke coming from the exhaust. Now my friend would like to know if the engine is roasted. Ford told her to replace the air cleaner and clean the air cleaner box then have the customer drive on the highway to burn off the rest.
What do you think?

No, not roasted but a real mess. Shouldn't be bad, though. If they went from litres to quarts it would be under. If it went from quarts to litres [most likely] then it would only be over about 15.5 ounces on a change where they added 15 quarts. If they didn't change the filter before changing the oil, now its gonna be really over the top. Clean out filter box, intake tubing, replace filter and clean map sensor with some brake clean. Motor should be fine.

engine oil too full

No, the oil dispenser definately went from litres to quarts. We are in Canada and only use litres. My friend actually had to figure out the conversion for quarts before it was filled. The real problem was that the dispenser went "beserk" and had to be recalibrated after this happened. It was out about 3.1 litres (as far as they could tell) too much. Needless to say, it was way overfilled.

Sorry, didn't realize you were in canada. When its over by that much besides parasitic power loss the oil will also foam and can cause leaks. No offence, but this tells me I'm 100% right not letting anyone touch my truck.

me too!

I took a previous V6 Chebby the local Quick Lube place. I asked the guy how much oil he put in and he told me "...6qts, all Chevys take 6qts." After I took out my manual and showed him it only took 5 qts, they drained out a qt or so and topped it off. Then they tried to charge me for the extra qt. No way! That is the last time somebody else did maintenance on one of my vehicles.
