Question Engine oil temp

just bought the truck today and its 02 f350 with 7.3 and I was wondering what the normal oil temps are? cuz I was on the freeway and my oil temp was reading 240 and i have banks dynofact gauges and it started climbing into the yellow area so i was wondering your thoughts on it

shouldnt be more then 220..what was the coolant temp's? what thermo stat you running??

They were normal and im not sure what thermo stat is in it

if the coolant temp's are normal id say your oil cooler is plugging up...oil sould not be much higher then coolant 10 - 20*

Ok so dumb question but how would I go about checking to see if its plugged up

take it apart and try flushing it...if it where me and i new my coolant temp was ok but oil temp is hot ..the oil is the right oil and been change when its sapose to be..id just buy a new one..

you would buy a new oil cooler?

yes just the cooler...not the end cap's..if you dont run a coolant filter the grit that shows up in these truck's will plug the oil cooler...
