Engine hours

Hello, I'm new to this forum but not to the 6.0 powerstroke or superduty trucks. I have a quick question. I just bought a used 2006 F-350 XLT with 15,000miles. After I took it home, I noticed it has a record of engine hours as you press the trip mileage button. My engine hours meter reads 850 hours. I was wondering, does this sound about right for a truck with these few miles? Any comments? thanks.

Thats a 17.64 mile per hour average. Must have a quite a bit of idle time on it.

ive got a friend w/ an 05 that has 25k miles only 522hrs if that
gives you any kinda idea.

thanks guys, I just wonder what the original owner did to accumulate so much idle time in one year? I guess not a bad thing? thanks again.

whats the history on the truck...was it a "work" truck ?
might have been idling to support electrical load, equipment
or just someone who wants to be a trucker

w/ that much idling i BET hes had it in the shop some (can you
say plugged up EGR valve)...do you have an oasis report from
the dealer showing work thats been done on it ?

to be honest i figured the hours would be higher, so on the ride home i flipped over to them and was surprised.

My hours are low on my '05 for the mileage also. I had the instrument panel replaced twice and Ford only updates the mileage when replacing. Hours start over. Get an OASIS report and check that. You might want to read it over real good just to look for anything strange in it. Ask on the forums if you have any questions about what things mean.
