Somehow, $9800 for a full blown rebuild on a diesel motor does not strike me as unreasonable. You gotta pay to play, and that is what the minimum of what I would spend if and when I need to redo a motor.

That's not bad at all considering we (as a salvage yard), are getting $4500-5500 out of 100K+ used engines.
