engine bucks at times, please help

My truck did this last year to the week on the way back from Dumont and I noticed the truck had a little surge to it. I drove the truck for a week until the dealer had a spot open and they replace a list of parts all smog related but the main cause was the EGR it was stuck open. I did find that when the truck was doing it I would stop shut it off restart it and all was ok. Another thing when I took it to the dealer it was doing it at teh time so they were able to check out right then.
