my autoenginuity software reports "P402" as
EGR-FLOW EXCESSIVE DETECTED

im just guessing but i BET if you take that intake off
and put the STOCK intake back on the code will
go away.

i know for a FACT that the exhaust <alone> will NOT set the above
code...

I see your from california, am i right ?
Is your CEL or MIL (check engine light or malfunction indicator light)
on ?

on california trucks emissions codes (like egr) should turn the
light on.

personally id wanna CHECK/TEST the egr valve (autoenginuity does
that)...to determine if the valve is sticking (open or closed) before
i considered replacing the valve or putting the stock air box back on the
truck.

on the other hand (im thinking/working thru this as i type) you
would be getting different codes if the valve were opening and
closing erractically or sticking.

so i suspect its your highflow/aftermarket airfilter (you dont say
what brand/size exhaust or the brand/setup on the intake either)

i HIGHLY recommend you fill out your profile, year, model etc of
your truck...it would be helpful.

ive seen no real proof that the factory original filter is
performance limiting...and imo there too much risk of damaging
the turbine vanes themselves by running a "free-er breathing"
filter (you dont get less restriction w/out letting more thru the
filter...including DIRT).

if your CEL/MIL light is on you wont pass inspection (in any state),
if youre getting codes / malfuntion indications its fact that other
mechanisms on the truck will try to compensate for the problem, which
likely will affect the performance and drivablity of the truck and impact
the fuel mileage as well as potentially weari out / over-work
other "things" (vgt & ebpv come to immediate mind).

even more alarming is the history behind ford (and their dealers)
of VOIDING warrenties because of add on items that "trip" codes
or cause errors that would not normally be caused by OEM equipment.

what solenoid did the dealer replace ?

on my truck it looks like a solinoid on top of the valve, that is also what the service writer said but we all know that they dont know much

im assuming by valve you mean EGR valve...its a self contained
valve w/ an actuator (solenoid) built ontop of it...you cant change
one w/out changing the other...theyre built together and considered
to be a SINGLE part.

is your CEL/MIL light still on ?
are you still throwing codes ?

hows the truck running ? idleing ?

considering they replaced the valve and youre STILL getting the code
id be inclined (if it were my truck) to put the stock air box back on,
clear the codes and see what happens.
