I'll keep my eyes peeled for a car, beef, wheat or widget supply problem bringing this country to its knees, 95_stroker.
Not my point at all............. you cannot tell one private sector how to market a product while allowing others to do as they wish.

pardon the pun, but long before all the oil in the world is gone you will eat those words. ;)

Which furthers my point, if you mandate to the producer where he can market his product and for how much the producer in turn will not produce said product.

I respect your opinion, 95. Perhaps if the producer doesn't have to buy a raw product but can acquire it themselves they can still make a good profit selling it on the domestic market. If the bill goes through, time will tell. Or if the volume is large enough prices across the board could go down simply because there's another source.

Do you understand the costs involved with this "aquisition"?

What they are balloting for is not for drilling the oil companies are vying for the real estate on the east coast. There is 2.5 to 7.5 billion barrels of oil over there, and 1.5 to 9.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. There was an article friday in a tampa news paper stating how many rigs they are active right now in the gulf. From the pan handle of florida to corpus christi there are 3700 oil rigs. There are also 7000 spots that have yet to be drilled that the oil companies already own. So before they start drilling there shouldn't they use up the real estate that they have already purchased. Most of those 3700 rigs are capped not even pumping the oil outta the ocean.

First thing is first quit complaining about where they are drilling and find out why none of the candidates are talking about closing the enron loophole. Check the internet for O reilly and enron loophole and see what was said thursday night. 50% of the fuel increase is caused by gouging. When the speculators work for the oil companies so the oil companies are setting the prices of oil. That is the biggest injustice.

Because this statement leads one to believe that the "raw product" is easily and chealpy produced and then readied for market at a low input as well.

Are we talking about the same thing here? I don't for a second think it will be cheap to do. But if were going to try to get away from being dependent on other countries for fuel, what are the alternatives? Solar, wind, even Nuke's. As far as powering vehicles as we now know them, its going to take oil. Sorry if I mislead anyone by a choice of words. Mike, if your in the biz or have an inside line, just spill it. I'm just trying to put thoughts together. From the looks of the thread you have a card you won't show.
