I'm for the off-shore and domestic drilling. I'm also for a guarantee that the oil will be kept here and not sold to the highest bidder. Thats the issue we should be more concerned with, IMHO. Oil is a world-wide commodity. If we have derrick's spring up in large numbers in Alaska, or drilling rigs off the coast of Florida, etc., whats to stop XYZ Oil from exporting it?

Here's my take. IMO drilling off Florida is a very bad idea because with global warming the ocean level will be rising over time endangering the off-shore rigs as well as increased hurricanes due to the warming of the Gulf Stream. Katrina is small potatoes to what's ahead.

Drilling off California is a bad idea because of earthquakes.

IMO drilling ANWR is fine.

IMO extracting the oil-shale from the Rockies is the best option. ;tu They claim the reserves are larger than the Saudi's reserves.

Nuclear plants need to be built BUT with the added security that is not in place today. The biggest problem with nuclear plants is protecting the spent rods from terrorists. :rant

If it's on the ballot this nov I'll be voting for offshore drilling. I would like to see clauses that require the oil to be kept for US consumption.

Hmmm, not a good idea. Nor is it a good idea to demand that our wheat, cattle, automobiles, or any widgets made here have to stay here. Very very counter productive in a capitalistic free trade society.

I hear ya. That's where WE, the Consumers, and US Citizens, need to Git Smart, Stand Up.. and learn to read through the "Mushroom Principle" driven reasons we are given for this, in truth.. Greed and Corruption, on a Global scale.. Nonsense. We the People need to make sure XYZ CAN'T export [it] on a GRAND scale. Cheap, as we knew it, fuel is gone, but there is no sound, truthful reason why a Nation as big as ours should be "On The Teat" of ANY other country.. ANYWHERE, ANY TIME.... to survive and prosper.

The Middle Eastern TEAT ?

They couldn't beat us with weapons. But, I can vision the Middle Eastern gentleman.. leaning on an Oil Rig saying: HERE AMERICAN..... Try $150.00 plus per barrel on fer size. Better than any precision guided weapon you got.. I'd betcha.

What he doesn't see (cuz he doesn't care, cuz he's building a sand island that looks like Guam) is: The additional.. Greed, Corruption, Spine challenged Politicians, Tree Huggers and Speculators.. between his Oil Rig and the Corner Gas Stations. On a Global Scale.

We need to drill on our Own lands, for our Own Oil.

;):);tu

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a car, beef, wheat or widget supply problem bringing this country to its knees, 95_stroker.
