has anyone had success in removing the dpf from the 6.4? it seems easy on the general motors and dodge trucks, but the ford needs to have the computer recalibrated as i understand it. i was also told that the trucks sold for the mexico market do not have the dpf on them. does anyone know if this is true and if so, how could we get that tune for our trucks?

All you need is a custom tuner (SCT) for the 6.4L... beware that you will likely void your warranty ;)
Otherwise I've heard good things about this modification...

dpf delete

greg, you cant just cut off the dpf because when your truck goes into regeneration it will squirt diesel into the pipe u replaced it with. the tuner will stop it from regenerating,so it is a must. bully dog, edge with attitude, sct, diablo ect ect i havent decided on which one yet. so i cant help u with that.

Gotta wonder if you couldn't remove and gut the dpf? No build-up, no regen?

You have to have a dpf delete tune, or otherwise your in trouble. The problem is that you have to have the two sensors in the pipe, if you just get rid of the dpf and dont use the correct dpf delete pipe, then the sensors wont be in it, and the truck will throw codes. Now if you took off the dpf and gutted it, you would still be in trouble. See the beauty of this system :)lmao) is that if your truck sensors dont show a change in pressure readings (thats what initiates the regen, when the sensors pick up a high pressure reading) for a certain amount of time, your truck will automatically go into regen. Going into a regen without a dpf you will be blowing, and I mean blowing white/blue smoke like no tommorow, and I'm sure its not good for it.

So as long as u put the sensors back in a straight pipe your ok? Or will the sensors detect not enough back-pressure and still thro code and start regen?

What I was saying there was that you couldnt just pull the dpf and put in a piece of exhaust tubing in its place, without the holes for the sensors. And yes, it will throw a bunch of codes, and the truck will run very, very poorly. It might not do it at first, but the software will detect that the truck hasnt gone into a regen in x amount of miles driven, and will automatically go into regen, just based on the fact that the truck hasnt gone into a regen recently. If you want a dpf delete, you need the tunes.
