I heard today that Joe Morgan was supposed to broadcase both the Mets and the Yankees games for ESPN. The plan was to race him across NY with a police escort after the Mets game so he could be at Yankee Stadium in time to start the Yankees game. Bad part is, the game got rained out. I saw him on ESPN for awhile during the rain delay, so I guess he would get credit for making appearances at both stadiums. Might be a good sports trivia question one day.

back in the 80's, a player played in 2 different games for 2 different teams, on the same day.

if memory serves me right, his name was joel youngblood, he played an early day game for the giants i believe and was traded that same day to the expos i believe, and played again.

as far as i know, that is the only time in MLB history that has happened.

just alittle sumpin for the baseball fans out there.:thumbs

For one of the numerous benefit concerts in the 80's and 90's, Phil Collins did a televised appearance live in London, and another live appearance later that day in New York. The feat won't be duplicated any time soon. The only way it could be done is by flying the Concorde, from Heathrow to JFK. Not baseball, but "double header broadcasting" of a different sort.

It's not broadcasting, but one of the toughest "doubles" to pull in one day is a NASCAR driver racing the Indy 500, then flying to race in the Coca Cola 600 that night, a total of 1100 miles in a hot race car, if he doesn't wreck either one or both. Some of the team owners frown on this because it hurts their NASCAR efforts.
