door lights

afternoon, i was looking at my door panel today (2001 f-350)i popped the red lens off & noticed there is a spot for a light inthere. anybody have lights in theres ? thanks chuck

apparently no one has lights in there UNLESS they installed
'em themselves.

You can pick up the bulb base at any auto parts store...youll have
to run the wires (in most model years), you can pick up the supply
wire in the door sills on each side (drivers and passenger).

if you follow these PHOTO instructions (like i did) you shouldnt have
any problems installing the door marker/courtesy lights

I wish they had them in there! I was thinking about adding them. It would be a nice added feature. just my two cents.

well dont have to wish any more...follow the photo instruction
from the link above...take you couple hours at the most...its not
hard to do this mod @ all.

you mean the factory below bumper "fogs" ? mine are stock
i just wired 'em so theyre always on (high or low beam)...and
mine were set up from the factory such that they could be
run w/ the parking lights (only).

heres the STEVE RACER FACTORY FOG MOD

if youre model year doesnt allow you to turn ON the factory fogs
w/ the parking lights you might want to review this LIGHT SWITCH MOD
which will allow you to turn on (pull out) the factory fog (switch) when
ONLY the parking lights are on.

the steve racer mod will not work on a 2001 model, this is according to the link given.

My '01 has door lights factory. Can't recall what year they made the budget cut. Gotta cut cost you know.

they were gone by 2004, if not by 2003...along w/ the hood insulation,
and fender liners.

I wonder...are they still doing an engine bay light on the hood ?
