The really simple version will only require a 45 degree 4" elbow (usually aluminized exhaust pipe), worm clamp, and a filter
(Baldwin) PA2818
(Donaldson) B085011
Napa PN# 54-6637
WIX 46417 $28@ napa
You take out the stock air box, turn the flexible boot around and connect the elbow and filter to the end. This is what I did.

The more complicated will require more parts like this one http://store.airflo.com/psi-03.html. If you're gonna try to get all this stuff you may just be better off calling dale at tymar or someone else that sell's his setup like bean. Unless you know where to get all the stuff locally you'll spend so much time looking that it's probably worth it to just buy the one from dale. At least thats what happened to me. It took me a while just to find the 4" exhaust piece. None of the muffler shops around here had 4" at the time. I've since added the filter clamp and will eventually get a new piece of 4" (longer) and the silicone boot, and some better clamps. By then I will have wasted enough time and money to just have purchased the real thing.

Very good advice there :thumbs If your time is worth anything you would be better off ordering a kit from Bean or Dale. You can get a Tymar intake from Bean for $159.

Hey Hillbilly,

I will be putting it in this weekend. No NAPA around here so I ordred one from fleet filter and it was 28 bucks or something like that with shipping.

I found the clamps at Homedepot but also wasted about 2 hours trying to find heating ducting or piping that would fit. 4" is not 4" on all that stuff. Don't buy any of it.

While looking for some air brake line for a heat exchanger I am building I found the pipe. Finally. Don't waste your time stopping by 7 different exhaust shops...even if they say custom....because gaurantee they won't have it.

The place I found it was a Big Truck shop. They sold it by the foot but they cut me the 3" length I needed and it was only 6 bucks and gave me the rest I'm sure I will find a use for.

So with the clamp, the pipe I FINALLY found, and the Filter it was around 40 bucks. Again Hopefully my looking saves you time, but if you have a napa go pick up the filter and a clamp, then just call around for a BIG truck shop and bet they will have one. They have stuff for Stacks as well and it was all very cheap.

I will let you know how the install goes but looks easy enough...Not as fancy but saved me about 100 bucks over Dales...But then again I drove around a lot and his is built a lot better than what I'm throwing together. If you have the money and Have to drive around a bit I would say his is worth the money. By far the cheapest filter set up you can buy out there and I hear he is a really good guy.

ok so i can just go to napa and get that filter right?

and then all i would need is a 4" 90 piece to connect to the old rubber hose and clamp it down?

because i can get a 4" 90 from work since i am a electrician ill just get a 4" EMT conduit 90 degree piece its made out of aluminum will that work?

thanks

Well the picutres I saw on the DIY you don't need a 45 degree peice. You can just use straight pipe. That stock flexible elbow on the intake now should work. I might have to look at the pics again as I thought it would bend enough...but I might not be as done as I thought.

I dont think you'll notice any gains in performance doing little mods like the filter alone, or the DP alone, or the 10K alone but if you add up all the dime store mods you do get a cummulative gain, perhaps not a huge one and perhaps not all in performance, but better filtration is a longevity gain, lower EGT's (due to a better performing DP) is also a longevity gain......

make sense McFly?
