I saw some CC fumes spilling out of my dipstick tube this am when I opened the hood -- nothing huge, and I checked to make sure the dipstick was securely seated (it was).

But after thinking about it I'm wondering if that's where the oil slick on the valve cover around where the dipstick tube is, must be coming from...oil vapors come out, some condense on the tube and run down onto the valve cover....??.

So - Is there an o-ring failed or other explanation for the crank case venting? I checked my CCV cannister and it was empty so I don't believe I have a plug up or anything and the amount of vapor is pretty minor but I've honestly never noticed it before...thoughts appreciated! :coffee

I'd clean it up and just keep an eye on it for awhile Rich.

When you installed the (catch) canister.. are you still useing the OE CCV vent/filter (hog hair)?? Could be plugging up.. maybe ??

well, the reason they vent it to the turbo inlet is so there is SOME draw against it..

Been outa town but will look it over when I can and give a better explanation...Joe, if the CCV is plugged then that would explain it but it really isn't that much vapor...

The "draw" (vacuum) on the inlet side is noted...but, there must be a seal in that dipstick that's gone snotty too because the CCV is basically at the same pressure as the block

-- I think (imagine?) that I removed that hog hair but it's been years. I did replace the CCV filter only a few months back and all seemed "fine".

Thanks Joe and DL.

Any idea where this o-ring is??? I don't see it in the cap under the grab handle. Is it down in the tube?
