Hey guys, I changed my fuel filter yesterday and didnt quite get the cap on tight enough. as a result, when i fired her up, diesel sprayed EVERYWHERE. I got the filter cap tight and no leaks at this time, but my problem is the constant smell of diesel. i sprayed the entire engine down with simple green and got rid of everything, but still smell diesel coming through the vents inside. ive had it happen before where i would drain the bowl and then have the smell for a while, but this is just overwhelming. any idea what else i could do to get the smell out?

Thanks, Jourdan

oh and by the way...simple green made the engine look brand new:D

go back under the hood and make sure the bowl drain isn't leaking

Make sure to get lots of water in the connections so that in a few thousand miles you can troubleshoot then when they corrode. I never use high
pressure.

Engine cleaner and a moderate spray. You also might try some water in the air intake for the vents (under the drill below the window). You might have gotten some diesel in it and no matter how much you wash the engine will that go away.

dmd, where exactly are you talking about the air intake for the vents? are you referring to the top of the hood right where the winshield wipers rest? please clarify. thanks, jourdan
