Hello FlyGuy, and welcome to the SDD gang of Power Stroke Super Duty Diesel Truck lovers.
You didn't say what state you live in but if they have # 1 on the pumps buy it this time of the year. Here in the south we never see fuel pumps with number # 1 on them, only #2 here. When it gets real cold we have to add something to the fuel to keep it from gelling.:sweet
Enjoy your new truck and always remember.

There Is No Feeling Like That Ford Truck Mobilling :thumbs :thumbs

I'm not so sure about running straight #1--even when I was living up in North Dakota, where we didn't see above zero temps for weeks at a time, a #1/#2 blend with additives (Stanadyne, Power Service, et al) sufficed for most of the time and only if the weather was supposed to be REALLY cold (i.e. sustained temps of < -20*) did I go to straight #1 and even then I only ran straight #1 for as short of a time as I needed to since mileage/power on that stuff went right down the crapper.

Now to really confuse you, depending on where you live many truck stops will have Winter Blend. It is part # 1 and part # 2 or treated #2 so it won't jell. Personally I use Power Service anti jell if the temps are going below 15 or so, Most winter blends are supposed to be good to 0, but I don't trust their numbers. The other key thing is watch you water in fuel light, and remember this is a diesel. It will not fire and take off like a gasser in cold weather.:thumbs :D

Yoda, Welcome to the site. I have not seen or heard from you in a while, as I don't go over there. How is your new rig??

I stay away from #1 diesel and put Howes additive in #2 and have never had a gelling problem. Has worked to over -20 degrees for me.
