Coolant filter and coolant questions.

there really isn't an easy way to find out if you have any cavitation problem (degredation of the wall) The only way I've heard of doing involves pulling the engine and disassembling it and napa will have the additive Commonly reffered to as DCA (diesel coolant additive)

I have installed the coolant filter. I ordered the kit from dieselsite.com. I actually cut my filter in half after I first installed it. The filter was not bad as I thought it would be. For longevity purposes I would recommend it..

Thats what I use also. ELC is not recommended for the pre 99 trucks but I use it anyway. I have not had any problems with the Cat elc. I don't like testing the coolant all the time so I just use the elc.
