They are painful to use....I have the Cold heat PRO...dual temp setting $30 and really only useful for small solder/wire.

It WILL work !....if you look at the tip it is split and that is the tricky part.
Dunno about the other one but mine has a light--red when proper contact is made and VIOLA!...solder flows:sweet
Just real twitchy to get accustomed to :D

I was given the coleman version of the same thing and it does take some getting used to making sure you have contact on both ends of the forked tip. Afterthat's done it's ok for small soldering jobs in the 16ga range.

Well I guess that answers my question. Reason I was asking is because I just got one and was wondering if I was just too dumb to make it work. Sounds like you guys are too ;) When I got done soldering a wire on my sons RC truck it looked like I did it in the dark after drinking a case of beer. It does work but not like it did on TV..
