Anything on E85
Instead of completely tearing it down, why hasn't anybody told the public how to make it work? The fuel needs a higher compression ratio to be fully utilized. Add a turbocharger to a vehicle running E85 and see what happens to the mileage.

So...since I don't believe in "man made" global warming, what is the benefit if E-85? Higher soy based bio-diesel prices I guess.:dunno

Why would soy based bio-diesel be higher? E-85 is currently made from corn.:dunno

The biggest problem with E-85 is automakers produce vehicles to run on it just to say they offer alternative fuel vehicles. They won't actually utilize their resources to make it a viable option.

lets see...unless your a tree hugger & your loosing sleep at night
i dont see ANY benefit in e85 !

less mpg, causing shortages of corn...driving the price of beef and
milk higher (cant feed the cows)...cant afford corn on the cob any more...

and if those things werent bad enough the ONLY reason e85 is cheaper
than gasoline is because its being subsidized by you and i (via the gubermit)

Plus they've even got the Jeep Wrangler as a gas hog. Duh!!! If Chrysler hadn't added so much "fluff" to drag down the power, it would do better. If they'd bring the Jeep back to the "original" type (with today's necessary safety/antipollution equipment), it would probably have better mileage. When you increase the size and weight, plus bigger tires, etc., yes the mileage will drop. JMHO.....

I'm not a tree hugger. I'd just rather see money stay in America (read: American farmers) than be shipped to OPEC. If someone would actually spend the time and money on research and development, E85 mileage will greatly improve. The down side is the vehicles will only be able to run on E85, not exactly a good idea right now since it isn't available everywhere yet. Another problem is the auto manufacturers aren't interested in alternative fuels. They want to use the same fuels to power their Hybrids. The ultimate goal is zero emission fuel cells.

Oh, and around here, E85 costs more than regular gas.
