Hey, has anyone out there done a ccv mod. I am beginning to see oil around the connectors to the intercooler. I have read that installing a filter on the ccv may cause to much psi in crankcase. Is this true or wise tale? Advice and info much appreciated!!

I've done the CCV mod, with a filter that I built following directions from another site.

The mod has performed flawlessly. There is not any increase in backpressure in the crankcase. In fact it feels like the truck runs better after the mod was installed.

I mounted the filter next to the front body mount, on the drivers side under the cab.

Sorry, no pictures available.

I did the ccv mod a couple of days ago, also added the open air intake while I was at it. Everything went real smooth. Note: I used a PVC 3" coupler instead of 4" exhaust pipe to connect the air intake hoses. The pvc coupler has an outside diameter of 4" and worked perfect. I got my Fleetguard filter from NAPA (about $40). All total for both mods, about $60 bucks. I could actually feel the difference in the go pedal after the intake upgrade.

Howdy and Welcome to SuperDutyDiesel:thumbs

I also had done the CCV mod going on 4 years back resulting in oil free surfaces on the boost tubes, boots & clamps.

The best benefit of the CCV mod is the intercooler's internal surfaces are no longer coated with power robbing thick oil coming from the crankcase valve oil vapors. In my opinion the CCV mod enables the intercooler to perform the way it's supposed to by extracting the hot intake air which in turn makes more power:sweet

I recommend this mod on every friend's PowerStroke SuperDuty/Excursion:cool:

I have had mine in the exhaust for many years with a check valve and not a single problem.

I have yet to get to this mod yet, but in doing it, is there any way to clean out the oil film from inside the intercooler, or just leave it be?

The only way to clean the inside of the intercooler is to remove it completely along with all the tubes, boots and clamps.

I've done it and so has Whatabudro:sweet

Bunch of gunk washed out of our intercooler.

would removing the intercooler and doing it on a truck which only have 65k on it be of any help? What did you actually clean it out with?
