I'd say any 7.3L with over 10,000 miles on the odo I'd clean the intercooler inside out. I mixed a mild solution of Sunlight dishwashing liquid 2 tbsp with a couple gallons of warm water, plugged one end of the intercooler opening with a towel and tape.Pour the sunlight cocktail in the open end then plug it with another towel and tape, now just agitate the mix back and forth for a minute then drain.I added the cocktail a second time to make sure the crud is all out.

Rinse thoroughly immediately after draining the detergent till it's all rinse water coming out.

After the rinse water is completely drained out set the intercooler on one end take a hair dryer to the top open end and secure it on while leaving the opposite bottom end open.Turn on the hair dryer(medium heat)hi/low fan for 30 mins to dry out all the water left in the intercooler.

Whatabudro I believe used compressed air to air out the intercooler on his truck, perhaps he'll drop in with his details.

Thats good info to know. I never seen that in the tech articles on the CCV mod. Think it's a good idea to add it in?

The only way to clean the inside of the intercooler is to remove it completely along with all the tubes, boots and clamps.

I've done it and so has Whatabudro:sweet

Bunch of gunk washed out of our intercooler.

Yep--that's what I did. R/R'ing the IC wasn't really all that hard, but there are a lot of parts that have to be removed so you can get the IC out. It was impressive how much oily crap came out of the IC, especially considering that my CCV hasn't been plumbed into the intake in 3 1/2 years...

That's what I did as well. I set the IC connector-down for ~ 2 hours to drip dry, then I duct taped an outlet hose from the big 5 hp/90 gallon compressor at the VFD station to it so that it had an airtight seal on the in-side. I then blew 6 full tanks of air through the IC to blow out any residual water and after that I reinstalled the IC. I figured that if there was any water left in the IC it was in small enough quantities to be negligable.

Should also ask if this method is good for cleaning all the hoses as well?

I used the same Sunlight solution for cleaning the tubes, boots and clamps. All cleaned up very well with a lemon scent:D
