If you get an aftermarket exhaust do you have to buy an extra cat delete pipe to get rid of the cat?
I am interested in the MBRP as well and was curious.
How much can you get for the cat at a recycling place you think?
I have seen delete pipes for the 6.0 but not my 7.3.

LEGALLY if the truck came w/ a cat on it from the
factory you shouldnt remove it...or if you do you must
replace it.

if the "dudes" at the inspection facility know which
years did and didnt come w/ cats you could be
denied inspection.

most GOOD aftermarket exhaust systems (mbrp) have
a "test" (aka cat delete) pipe that will allow you to seamlessly
remove and re-install the cat (w/out cutting either the test pipe
or the factory cat).

2003 6.0 trucks did NOT come w/ a cat...
consistantly from 2004+ 6.0L have cats.

prior to the 2004 6.0L the installation of cats was hit and miss
year to year

the BEST systems will NOT be welded or difficult to remove/re-install.

That got me thinking that maybe mine does not even have a cat. We don't have emissions testing in my county or any close counties really. If all/most exhaust systems are turbo back systems, it would seem that there might not even be a cat on 7.3s to remove. Can anyone with a 7.3 confirm this.

Thanks bush!

OK evidently mine does have a cat and a resonator. A resonator is like a muffler isn't it? I checked DPPI and no cat delete pipes are available only muffler deletes.

resonators typically appear AFTER the muffler.

if you got a cat itll be bigger around than the muffler,
and MUCH SHORTER than a Muffler.

the cat would be PRE-MUFFLER.

sounds like yours didnt come from the factory w/ a cat !

Well that stinks I wanted to take that thing to the junk yard and get some cash for it to fund my exhaust.

I believe they still are....they arrested these two guys in my area that were stealing converters while people were in church. :lmao

I need to check and see if mine has one I will tomorrow. I need it gone for the cheese. I want to say this one guy told me I could get about $250 for it because of the amount of platinum in it.

I saw on America's most wanted last week a murder for the cash a scrap driver was carrying for converters. Bama may have heard of this, it took place in Alabama.
