my '02 (built 11/01) did NOT come with a cat. All it had was that big honkin muffler...which is now gone

The 03' 6.0's actually did come with a cat...or at least my dad's had one on it.

That got me thinking that maybe mine does not even have a cat. We don't have emissions testing in my county or any close counties really. If all/most exhaust systems are turbo back systems, it would seem that there might not even be a cat on 7.3s to remove. Can anyone with a 7.3 confirm this.

My 2k never had a Cat, and it's California truck !

If Cats WERE required in 2k... With all the C.A.R.B. Whacko's here..... Mine woulda had one.

We have two 2002 7.3L in my family. One had a cat and one didn't. As of right now, neither of them do. The local Ford dealer told us they build 50 state legal trucks and they build 48 state legal trucks. Other than that, who knows?

I have a 2000 7.3 and it did not have a factory cat. All it had was a mufler and tubing.

My 03 7.3 did not have a cat from the factory. Now it doesnt even have a muffler!...
