out of curiosity, ask the shop how much that would cost post-warranty. This is the primary reason I do not intend on owning a 2008 model.

Do they also take the cab off to service it??

WOW, i wouldn't want to have the cab lifted too many times. Seems like things would get loosed up and squeek alot over time.

I've heard more than one Ford technician claim that's it's ridiculously easy to cab-off an F-series truck

Easy, that is, if you're getting paid in the neighborhood of $100 an hour (the stealership that is), you have a fully equipped shop and are very practiced at the task from performing it on a nearly daily basis.

Myself, I don't have a vehicle lift in my driveway to lift a cab off a frame. Nor will I pay someone that kind of money to do so. The job should be totally performable from under the hood had the design engineers done a half-arsed decent job in first place.

I love my 7.3, but I don't plan on buying another Ford diesel pickup until they go back to logical, common sense design practices.

FLAME SUIT ON: I hate to say it, but a Dodge Cummins is looking more attractive as time goes by.
