If you open your hood and look to the right you will see the engine harness comes off the engine onto the inner wheel well (right under your Tymar intake tube). There is a BIG square connector that takes an 8 or 10 mm in the dead center to separate the two. All you’re doing is opening this connector and attaching the break-out box in between.
The signals you’re breaking are the IDM signals to the injectors. By breaking the signal, the injector will not fire. Think of it as a fancy way to pull spark plug wires while you drive to find a knocking injector or a stumbling injector ;).
When a Cylinder contribution test and a Injector buzz test don’t pick up a mysterious miss (because it’s done in park) I can hit the road with this thing sticking out of the hood and into my window while I drive to duplicate the miss under a load before I start pulling valve covers.

I remember Kevin's article on this and he had a long harness on it so that it could be in the cab (I think through the vent window). It flattened out at the hood to make it out from underneath a closed hood. The article used to be on TDS, but for some reason is no longer there. Google comes up with "remnants" of it (reference to it), but nothing shows up :confused:
I've thought about building one in the past, but have never gone out to the boneyards to get that big connector set. Cheers!

Yep, Kevin built mine. I'm waiting on him to return form vacation so I can get the complete write-up on it. Like you said, the wire loom flattens out so you can shut the hood on it. I think I'm going to modify mine to flatten out so I can shut it in the door also because it’s hard to hear with the windows down.

I have used the injector cut-off box before, we had one at my JVS when I was in HS. I think ours was made by IH.

We used it to cut out cylinders on a DT466 to see how cutting different cylinders affected it, it had 8 switches though, I would assume to accomodate a T444E.

I have a breakout box, use it often. It's a Ford/Rotella one off Ebay for $290.

Ok, Kevin was nice enough to send me the PDF files (in color and everything :)) so where can I put these files for you guys to get? Both of them come up to 1.2 meg.

hey dieselpwrdredneck,what does all this mean:the kitty ran off with all my exhaust , adjustable 10K, Adjustable EOT?and how or why do you have that little penguin thing that says all my info?

Spyder,

Kitty ran off with the exhaust means he is running an open exhaust without a catyletic convertor.

Adjustable 10K mod can be learned about HERE

Adjustable EOT is a way of fooling the PCM into believing the trucks Engine Oil Temp is some value other than what it actually is. Its a cheap performance mod.

And the penguin works for the CIA and is watching your every move. :sweet
