My dealer is saying that the brake "shutter" is due to
warp'd rotors.

he wants 150 bucks to turn the rotors....i questioned that
i thought it was covered under warrenty and if not i would
buy new rotors rather than pay that for turning.

i dont have my book cause the its in the shop....are rotors
covered under the 3yr/36k warrenty ?

guys want a diagnoses fee now, even though I told 'em what
was wrong w/ it.

Tell them to pound salt. It takes longer to get the truck in the air than it does to cut the rotors. I don't even think midas would charge that much :) Besides that, I'd hit www.rockauto.com and by some replacement rotors before I'd ever get them cut.

I've just had too many experiences with cutting rotors only to have them do the same thing in a week, and have to be replaced anyway.

rotors yes , pads no
pads are considered WEAR item and only covered 12/12k
rotors them selves should be under the 36/36k

From my experience brakes are only covered under 12/12k, unless the brakes are defective. Warping is considered normal wear.

That being said, $55 is what I paid Ford to turn the rotors. I had to do it 6 times before they were finally too thin to turn, then I installed ART. $150? I want what they're smoking....

well when you consider it took 'em TWO days to clear 4 EGR DTC's
and replace the egr there price is probaby in line <for them>...and
this is WITH an appointment/scheduled a week and a half in advance.

hell they billed FORD almost 400 bucks for the EGR warrenty replacement...
out of warrenty it would have cost the average joe almost 520 bucks
parts & labor...it sure is hard to feel sorry for dealers & techs that are billing
like that !

shenandoah ford & winchester ford...stay away from them

Bull crap - Battlefield turned my rotors no problem - didn't even have to ask them.

Did they do that because you've been a customer there for so long, or do they do that for everybody? Due to the move from TX to MA and vacation in between, I had my rotors turned at 3 different dealerships in 3 states, and they all charged the same amount. :dunno

Well I would like to think that they do it for everyone - it was still under the 36K at the time. This is the first vehicle I have ever bought from them - so nothing there. Normally when I take her in I always have some type of supporting data let's say - list of codes, service bulletins, etc etc - so I do remember saying to them (and also on paper - I always take a typed sheet of problems and suggested solutions :D ) that the rotors "appeared" to be warped and that the truck was still under the 36K mark.

They called later and said it was done - come pick it up - no charge.

Wow, either you've got yourself a great dealer or you know how to make them work. I've done what you do to a much smaller extent (probably due to my lesser knowledge :) ), and it's worked okay. Maybe I should do a bit more and see if my dealer responds. Then again I'm moving next month so I'll try it on the new dealer.:sweet
