stays on first thing in the morning when its cold outside. As I drive it the light dims to just about out and comes back on. It does it for about 5 minutes or so until things "warm up".

Anybody have any Idears?

Vacuum pump is getting weak. My light has come on when the temp hits about -45 since the truck was new. The colder it gets the harder it is for the Vacuum pump to do its job. If your light light is only on when it is cold then I would bet a donut that your vacuum pump is getting weak.

I dont use my E brake, but when I bought the truck the previous owner did. When I test drove it the light came on during driving. I released the e brake lever and pulled up on the e brake pedal the light went out, but hasn't come on since.

I found out since my last post exactly what caused mine to stay on(by looking) . the e brake switch is adjustable, It has a small left hand threaded rod. Before I just wiggled it & it went off, but came back on a few days later. this time I got to the bottom of it . Rick

Its ba..aack!!!!! I thought reading glasses took care of it ,but the stupid light came back on. I took the e brake assembly out . what I thought was a LH tread was a spring. I took away the ground for good. Now if it comes back I'll know it it a legitimate problem A.R.

I have a 97 PSD 4x4. The dash brake light was coming on almost every time I braked hard. (even with New brakes installed). The explanation I got was that the speed sendor on the rear end would go out, a common failure. I replaced it, and the light stayed off for days. Now it comes on once in awhile, and I think the cause is the abs fuse. I noticed if I jiggle the fuse to make it tighter, the light stays off.
I had serious rear brake problems where the hardware..springs and all were breaking. Had them replaced, and thought the light had something to do with that, but it semms to have been a conicidence.

The brake light coming on during hard braking usually means a pressure related problem Like broken down fluid or a master cyl that may be going bad. I still havven't gotten to the bottom of mine yet. I am waiting on some brake line parts from ford right now. I have a small leak in a line & when I take it out I plan to do both from master cyl & l f whip. Then I 'll look into the light again. One of the other guys replaced his pump cause of the lite & it still came back. My brakes work fine is the part I don't get . I will prevail eventually A.R.
