Has anyone screwed with your trailer lights? This can be a cause of the Brake lights being on, a shorted wire at or near the trailer plug.

Are the brake lights physically on or is it just the BRAKE dash light? On my 97 F250 the Brake light in the dash was on so I tapped the e brake pedal and then the release and it went out.

DRL's (daytime running lights) on your truck (if equiped)
are tied to the parking brake switch.

on DRL's equiped cars/trucks the headlights turn off when the
parking brake is set.

If you HAVE DRL's and the parking brake light is on, Im curious
to know if the headlights are on or off...if the lights are off then
id start looking at the parking brake switch...if your lights are ON
then id look at the master cyl. fluid level float/switch.
No DRL's Thanks

ok so the issue is one of two things its either the fluid level/float/switch
or the parking brake switch, those are the only things that will activate
the dash e-brake light.

i dont know which way the fluid level float switch activates (open = light
on OR closed = light on)...personally id try shorting the fluid level/switch
located on the master cyl. & see if that shuts the light off...but again
im assuming the light is turned ON by an open circuit...so im HOPFUL that
shorting or closing the circuit/switch will turn the light off & prove the
float/switch is defective).
I'll Try that, Thanks, Rick

The 94-97's werent equipped with DRL's that I am aware of. Have you checked the switch that the parking brake contacts?
I"ll Try that too, Thanks, Rick

Fini, As it turns out it was something simple. I Removed the e brake assembly to re- install my chip, & it must have disturbed the pos of the switch. All good, thanks for all the help. Rick

Funny you should start this thread...
My dash light that says the E brake is engaged, stays on first thing in the morning when its cold outside. As I drive it the light dims to just about out and comes back on. It does it for about 5 minutes or so until things "warm up". Then the rest of the day all is fine.
What has me baffeled is that it dims out, like on a dimmer switch. I would think that if I had a switch prob then it would just blink out and then back on if there were issues.
Anybody have any Idears?

Thanks RoReRi

I use my E-brake all the time and sometimes when I release it I have to help the pedal up with my foot to turn off the light.
