Not yet. They gave me the wrong electronic kit the first time around, had to order a new one in. Didn’t come in until yesterday, and I’m getting ready to jump in the Golf and head for Yellowstone for the weekend, so it will be next week before I find anything out now.95_stroker said:
I’m also getting some input from a friend of a friend who says it may be the ESA (electronic shift assist) unit on the outdrive. Long story short, it’s purpose is to weaken the spark signal and disrupt timing to the engine while you are shifting into and out of gear, to make it easier to shift, and to keep it from BUMPING into gear so hard.
Anyway, the guy says he thinks my ESA might be fritzing, because he is convinced it is a timing/spark/dwell issue. So, he says if the e-unit doesn’t fix it, that he’ll bet me the cost of the new ESA that is the problem. I guess a unit specifically designed to interrupt timing and spark could cause a problem if it turns on at the wrong time, huh???
I’ll definitely keep you guys posted as I fight my way through this. Thanks again!
