Here is my dumb question of the week. Without modifying anything on the stock fuel system of a 2001 7.3 PSD, can I run B99? I am running B20 and can hear and see differences in my engine. B20 is $2.99/gal and B99 is $2.25/gal, and if I mix my tank 50/50 (if my math is correct) I have then created B60. Will the B99 and B20 mix in my tank or seperate? Thanks for the help.

Yes you can run B99 with out any problems. Depending on how cold it gets in your climate will limit how high of a percentage you can run without running a heated filter like the Racor 900FH(pics in sig). From what I've read on blending there are temps that bio needs to be blended at. Can't remember what those are off the top of my head.

Make sure you carry a spare fuel filter.

for $.74/gallon I would not hesitate for a minute. If you go B99 for any extended period, keep an eye on your return fuel lines. They are the only weakness Antonio and others and I have had. They are cheap too so it is not a concern. I paid $26 total for my two lines - braided SS and teflon. The shop made them while I waited too.

Im jealous you can get b99 - I lost my supplier due to cerebral rectalitis. His, not mine.

Most soy based BD at 100% (B100) 37 deg f and clouding starts. 32 f or so and filter pluging can occur. This is if you get good fuel. Crappy fuel #'s might be higher.

I have a 94 F-350 and I have been running B99 without any problems...should I be concerned? It is $3.35/gallon here, while B20 is $4.35/gallon, and No. 2 is $3.40....so without hesitation, I have been buying B99. My truck has a stock Fuel Filter Heater on it, so I'm not so worried about coagulation. Nowadays (in my area), B99 has an additive that prevents coagulation also.

What I'm worried about is my fuel lines? they are stock and I don't know what they are made of, should I upgrade?

I can get b99 but have to drive like 30 miles each way so it's not worth the drive. :(

Bart,

I've been buying fuel in Fort Worth at DFW Biodiesel. When I filled up last week I got B20 for $2.89/gal. If I remember the B99 was about $2.35???

If you go there BE CAREFUL, there is no overflow shutoff on the high flow pump. I'm used to hearing the foam filling up the neck and clicking off, not filling up the neck and shooting out all over the handle, truck, and almost me!!

When is the next mod party? I'm looking for gauges and getting another itch:thumbs :thumbs .

Wes, that would be a drive for me. If I am ever out that way, I'll stop in and hopefully remember the warning and not get covered in fuel. I'm not sure when the next one will be, but I have found that it always itches, lol, and there is always something on the horizon.
