FWIW..........

The Autozone Group 65DLG, Duralast Gold batteries that I bought in February 2005 finally gave up the ghost yesterday.

I didn't think that 4yrs-8months was too bad.

These batteries(1000CA/850CCA) have a 3yr free replacement, 8yr prorated warranty and a replacement set only cost me $76.00.

The Motorcraft battery in our 94' Explorer is stock and the stock batteries out of my 96' PSD are in my 75' F250 and still going strong. I am thinking 14 years isn't too bad but I am shooting for 16 years.

I think I've got 1.5-2 yrs on my gold tops. Anyone else have a constant oooooz coming from the top of theirs? I wipe it off and the next time I open the hood, same thing!

Just enough to catch dust about an inch around the rectangle caps on top.

Well, I wouldn't call it "oooooz" but something sure causes dirt and grime to coat the top of my gpld tops. It may be that the 'gold top' shows dirt a LOT EXr that a black top battery... It doesn't really bother me as long as they keep cranking! ! !
