ball joints on an 01 4WD and axle seals

i was using a 4lb "hand" sledge...i was afraid i was gonna
knock the truck off the jack stand

I wailed and wailed and wailed on mine to get the knuckles off, it took a lot to get them off.

What did you do as far as those seals on the shafts?

yeah i bet i lost TWO hours trying the get the knuckle off the truck AND
the ball joints outta the knuckle...a lot of it was 1st time jitters...but once i
used the ball peen'd hammer to persuade the pitman arm puller under the
lower ball joint the knuckle pop'd right off w/ a "PING"

What did you do as far as those seals on the shafts?

i replaced the inner seal (it was torn)...didnt have the LARGER outter seal...
i did NOT replace it (yet) as soon as i get nothing but
de-froster action ill be tearing it down....but it wont take
me long this time
