I won't say 15 because maybe it's different but that's what mine takes.

1- is the truck on level ground?
2- did you fill the oil filter, if not have you cranked it yet? If not 1.5 quarts will be taken to fill the filter.

1 yes on level ground road just repaved and a million times flatter then its ever been, they did a great job (suprisingly)

2 yes i filled my filter up to the brim so when i crank it there not time w/o oil..

got 2 gallons and 1 quart out im pretty sure i put almost a full 4 gallons (3 rotella and 1 lucas HD stabilizer)
running all rotella this change yes its 15-40
would i be buring that much oil in 5k miles? should i start checking my oil every 1000 miles?
159270 on the ticker...

Officialy 15 Quart... with a new Filter... I have always put in the full 4 gallons...By Oil Change time I think I am still taking out about 4 Gallons... the oil level is still above the HAtch marks on the dip stick by about the same amount as when I had done the Oil change.

Sounds like you need to start checking your oil every 300 to 500 miles and start making notes as to how much it is using. When it gets down on the hatch mark fill it back up to the top mark.

any clues as to what might be causeing this... i cant see any leaks, and since ive cleaned the motor after the CCV mod havent had and buildup on the motor at all... maybe the EBPV or some thing(keep getting EPS vale high, and malfunction[0470, 0478])..
thanks

With your stated mileage on the ticker my first thought would be piston rings and/or oil getting by the injector o-rings possibly:dunno

On my 99 F550 at almost 90k miles I was putting in 1-2 quarts in between oil changes.

I have always put in 14 1/2 qts and it stays about 1/2 qt low for 5,000 miles. If I add 15 qts, it burns off the 1/2 within 500 miles anyway so I see no need to add the 1/2 qt. Don't know why it burns off the extra but it apparently doesn't need it.
