dump the lift and the 35's

I know I am used to driving long trucks, drove em all my life, but I don't have trouble with mine.

But what crumm said though converting to a d60 should help.

Nope, not longer but the turning radius is much tighter on the SD's. My 95 F-350 CC LB 4x4 needed two city blocks to negotiate a U-turn.

wonder why/if the pre 99-04s would have a wider turn radius (than the 99-04)...both are leaf spring fronts.

Yeah, anything pre 99' has zero steering radius. I used to drive a 88' crew cab long box 5spd 7.3L and what a tank to turn that thing around. I'll take my SD any time of the day. You could try to see if all the steering linkages will fit on to your truck, that and a 99 + front diff should get you steering tighter. Good luck it will be expensive if possible.
