I also find it a little embarrassing when I turn the key in my wife's car and put my seat belt on while waiting for the glow plug light to turn off and she asks me what I am waiting for.

I don't feel so bad now. When I bought the Ex I was using it as my DD. I had been driving it exclusivly for almost 4 months. One day we were going to run a quick arrend and the car was already out. We hopped in the car, I put the key in, put on my seat belt and sat there waiting for the yellow light (Check Engine light) to go out. My fionce' asked me what I was doing. I told her, waiting for the light to go out. She laughed and said that light won't go out till you start it. I have caught myself do that once in a while when I switch vehicles........

I also miss it when I drive Dad's truck (F-250 5.4 Gas) or van (E-150 5.0 Gas) and have no power from takeoff..... I am so used to the low end diesel torque, a V8 gas seems to have no power........

Well I got mine back in service on Saturday. Found out the axle was a limited slip... had to test that out on the road :burnit:burnit (yep 4 tracks :lmao)
I like the 4.30 ratio pulling trailers... now I just need to get the front regeared.

Robert, the 150 is getting around 15-18 mpg in the DFW area. When I go to Louisiana, which is around 700 miles round trip, I can get up to 21 mpg. It's a 2008 and has the 4.6 engine with the 3.55 rear gear. The Platinum is rated at 14/20, but with "easy" accelerations you could probably get more than that on the road. I just talked with my salesman about another matter and asked him about his demo (which is a 2010 Red Platinum) and he usually gets around 14. I've known him for over 23 years and he's a pretty honest guy. However, he's never on the highway and most of his driving is local as he only lives about 10 miles from the dealership. I have found that the 150, as well is in my former PSD, if I keep the rpms at 2000 or less (even during takeoffs), I get the best mileage. I know what you mean about the pickum up truck. I've been without one in the past and it's pretty tough.

Hope this helps in your decision. If you have any questions, you can also PM me.

thanks wayne, crum i forgot you had a 150 :(
i looked at one with the 3.15 gear for highway driving we don't have anything heavy to tow over 3k lbs, so i thought the 3.55 would be counter productive.....
however the test drive 4x4 with 3.55 was AWESOME :stir
but i am going with a 2wd , just have to tie up some looses ends , hopefully before 31 dec to catch the tax break and 0% interest. and i f i can find a friends and family pin might save some more buckage :sly

Robert, with the 3.15 gears and 6 speed tranny, you should get at least the 20 highway mpg. Also, are you looking for a SuperCrew with the 5 1/2 ft bed or the 6 1/2 ft bed? The 5 1/2 ft bed is much easier to handle than the 250 with the 6 1/2 ft.

I can definately say I missed my diesel . I had a 2000 CC Dually Diesel and loved it . When I was looking at buying an 08 diesel was alot more than gas , both at the pump and at the dealer and I thought it'll never pay off . I had a 99 V-10 as well (reg cab 8' bed plow truck) and didn't hate it so I bought a brand new 08 CC Lariat with a V-10 . I had never towed my trailer with my V-10 , like I said just a plow truck , so I hooker her up and .......................WTF . Wouldn't pull a sick whore off of the piss pot , what a let down . I kept the truck for 11k miles and just couldn't stand it . Sold it and bought a low milage super clean 99 with a 7.3 . Other than missing the look of the 08 and updated interior , this truck is far superior . Never again will I be without a Diesel , wont even consider it .
