picture #1: what is this? screwdriver is pointing to it... is it just a rubber washer to keep out sludge? it is loose and is on both sides...

picture #2,3,4: while under truck greasing items, i noticed my not so slight leak. rear driveshaft into the pumpkin.. prolly should get it in to be fixed - right?

picture #5,6: awhile back someone asked me to look at the 'tabs' on my rear pumpkin, should state it is 3.73 gears. Nope, this is all i have. Window sticker says it is 3.73 but now i am wondering if it may not be?? thoughts??

Had some free time on my hands today.

p.s. Roy-greased the joints today. They did have grease in them, it squirted out. And driver side tire I could pick up and down say 1/4". After grease, no movement. Drive test later...

That's a dust seal. It will be loose some, and dust is about all it'll keep out. The shaft seals are further down the differential tubes inside the pumpkin.

pic. #1....tail gunner is right....
pic. #2,3,4....looks like pinion seal leaking....
pic. #5,6....can`t read the one tag clearly, but should have the ratio or code on there that will tell you what ratio and if it is a limited slip....if you can tell me the all the letters and numbers on the tag, i should beable to tell you your ratio....

sounds like to me you will doing the joints too....i suspect you are talking about the ball joints....they should have minimal movement....

Red,for confirming what gearing you have go to your vehicle certification label which is on the bottom of the drivers side B pillar(it'll have the axle code on it)

Look at this Vehicle Certification Label article I wrote up last year. Scroll down to "Axle type" :sweet

Hope this helps some.
