I've been having some slow cold start and no hot start issues with the truck for a while now. It was looking to me like either HPOP or IPR so it gets a trip to the Ford house for a look over and I get nothing from them, Im told no codes present or stored and she starts fine for them. Now it will not start hot at all and only start if plugged in cold. The CK engine light comes on and off at will mostly under accel then goes off or sometime stays on for a while but only while it is running. Last night she had to be towed home form the parts store the ungreatfull b#&%h I was there for her. This morning she fired rite off after a few cranks and a short plug in. I get her to a local garage and the tech whips put a snap on reader and gives me codes P0603 and P0605 both PCM codes. Why couldnt ford find these and BOB's garage could?(Not actual name) Where do I find a PCM that wont break the bank and will take less than 2 weeks to get to me?

IPR o-rings are your likely problem and I would replace them before I spent the money on a PCM.

If a PCM is your problem then I know DP Tuner offers PCM's and from what I remember reading they are some of the least expensive and I think that he will check the PCM to make sure that it is actually bad also.

AS for the codes you do have not likely to be a pcm problem the 603 code is often thrown for a tuner and or if the battery was recently disconnected. The dealer likely disconnected the battery for 1 of 2 reasons they actually followed the FSM which has you disconnect the negative terminals when you do anything and 2) they did not know how to reset to factory defaults all adaptive learning in the PCM and were looking to see what they could get. This is not something to worry about. The 605 is a bit more ominous but can and frequently does show up when the computer is just confused because something is wrong that it cannot pinpoint to throw another code.

IPR Blues

So I pulled the IPR to check it out and give it a good once over. THe O-ring did have some good flat spots on it so I figured its out may as well pull it appart and cleane it out make sure no crap was in it. when i got it appart I found thet the little that is supose to be in the body was not there at all. New IPR should be here monday. Think that could have been the problem? Also arround the electromagnet, it was caked with crap looked like a balljoint on an old 8N ford. Will I need to prime the HPOP when I put the IPR in?

if you some how lost the rattle (for lack of a better term) from the IPR then that would cause the problems.

starting after IPR replacement is no where as difficult as after getting air in the HPO rails. I just filled up the reservoir with fresh oil and she cranked quickly. I'm not sure if it is really needed or not.

I just cranked her till she fired. Took about 10 seconds worth of cranking and off she went sorta. Got it to run and fire hot then sunday night she died on the way home. I took it to a diffrent local shop and they hooked it up to the computer and pulled more codes out of it, they are as follows Po261-P0283.

those are both injector codes..
P0261 is injector 1 circuit low
P0283 is injector 8 circuit high
could be sign of poopy injectors (common), or could be a as simple as the UVC's are failing (more common)
get your DVOM out and start checking..

I'll see what I can do about printing the diag routine at work (where I can't post it) and scanning it to PDF..

Well I had the truck for a month, was able to drive it for 2 weeks then a week and a half in the shop now its at ford. I'm looking to send her back where she came from and find me another stroke. cyl's 3 and 5 are getting compression faults. I have replaced both UVCH the IPR 2 injectors and an IDM on my owne dime still wont stay running. The injectors were bad along with the harnesses and it fried the IDM 2 times mine and a used one. My mechanic told me to take it back where I got it from.

Is this bad?

So the truck goes in for a compression test and comes back with 5 of 8 cyl's low/below spec. Looks like its long block time or I can do it myself. Where are the local guys at? I know there is one clovis guy on here, there have got to be more in the area.
